How to Obtain a MAT Waiver

If you are a physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner (NP), certified nurse-midwife (CNM), or physician assistant (PA) and have an active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number to dispense controlled substances, you are eligible for free, discipline-specific MAT Waiver Training.

The MD/DO training is 8 hours. The NP, CNM, and PA training courses are 24 hours. Both in-person and online courses are available.

By completing free medication-assisted treatment (MAT) training and obtaining your Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000) Waiver, you're eligible to receive National Health Service Corps (NHSC) award preference.
