This treatment improvement protocol is for behavioral health service providers, prevention specialists, and program administrators—the professionals directly responsible for providing care to trauma survivors across behavioral health settings, including substance abuse and mental health services. This protocol also targets primary care professionals, including physicians; teams working with clients and communities who have experienced trauma; service providers in the criminal justice system; and researchers with an interest in this topic.

This AHRQ-funded guidebook was developed to assist the field of primary care and behavioral health in identifying professional practices for developing a workforce for integrated care.

The Collaborative Care Research Network (CCRN), a sub-network of the AAFP’s National Research Network (NRN), was created so that clinicians from across the country can ask questions and investigate how to make collaborative care work more effectively.  The objectives of the CCRN are to support, conduct, and disseminate practice-based primary care effectiveness research that examines the clinical, financial, and operational impact of behavioral health on primary care and health outcomes.
